[Canada] Postdoctoral Fellow in Microfluidic Devices, Universify of Ottawa

University of Ottawa has a two-year Postdoctoral Fellow position supported by a NSERC Strategic Grant. Successful candidate will work closely with national laboratories at the National Research Council of Canada and Canadian Food Inspection Agency to develop a novel microfluidic-based flow cytometer (microcytometer) for rapid detection and identification of bacterial foodborne pathogens. Responsibilities of this position include the design & simulation, fabrication & characterization of the microfluidic chips; designing & implementing fluidic controlling system of the microcytometer, and developing methodologies to validation the microcytometer.A successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

[Malaysia] The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme Scholarships 2007

The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) was launched in 1980 to promote and facilitate technical cooperation amongst developing countries based on the concept of self-reliance. The programme consolidates various forms of technical cooperation in areas where Malaysia has the experience and expertise. The Programme encourages the exchange of relevant experiences, pooling and sharing of resources and the development of complementary capabilities through:
Provision of scholarship and study awards for studies at various institutions in Malaysia;
Provision of training where participants are sponsored by third world countries/organizat ions;
Study visits and practical attachments;
Export of services and expertise in various fields The MTCP implemented by The Centre for Foundation Studies and Extension Education (FOSEE), Multimedia University is based on the fact that the development of a country depends on the quality of its human resources. Such human resource quality can best be achieved through training. FOSEE under Multimedia University Melaka Campus is one of the many training institutions in Malaysia involved in this training.

Participants are NOT allowed to bring along their spouses or families for the duration of the course. Participants will be required to return to their own countries upon completion of the course or at the end of the tenure of the scholarship whichever is earlier.
The award may be terminated at any time for the reasons of unsatisfactory conduct, breaches of the conditions of the award, or failure to make satisfactory progress. 2. Travel Documents and Vaccination:Persons seeking to enter Malaysia must be in possession of valid passports or other internationally recognized travel documents endorsed for travel to Malaysia. Such passports or other travel documents must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the period of stay allowed in Malaysia. Tuition FeesTuition fees will be borne by the Malaysian Government under the MTCP.
Medical TreatmentExpenses for medical treatment in government hospitals/clinics will be borne by the Government of Malaysia if participants fell sick during the course. In case of admission of government hospitals will be eligible for First Class Wards (two bedded or more). Candidates must be certified medically fit to participate under this programme

The successful applicant will investigate the affect of afforestation on the greenhouse gas balance (GHG) in blanket peatlands. The study will be based on a chronosequence which will include a pristine blanket peatland and at least four forest site spanning the full rotation. Soil fluxes of CO2, CH4 and N2O will be measured using chamber techniques. Litterfall and fine rootturnover will also be studied.In addition, the successful candidate will:
Possess an undergraduate (first or upper second class) or Masters degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Ecology, Meteorology, Engineering, Applied Physics or a related discipline.
Have numerical analysis skills in FORTRAN, Matlab, IDL, C/++ or a similar environment.

International Postgraduate Scholarships in Bristol University

Applicants can be from any country, but must be liable to pay the full international tuition fee.
Applicants must hold an offer for a Taught Postgraduate programme at the University of Bristol.
Applicants must have firmly accepted the offer made by the University of Bristol before submitting an application.
Conditional offer holders may apply for the scholarship but an award can only be made if conditions are met.
The deadline for applications is 30th June 2007 for those students commencing their studies in September 2007.
The scholarship application must be typed (or reasons for not doing so given) and must be a piece of original work signed by the applicant.
All scholarship applicants must agree to provide a student profile to be used in publications for the purposes of marketing the University of Bristol.
Current University of Bristol masters students are not eligible to apply.
Applicants who defer entry must apply for the academic year in which their studies will start.
There are 10 Scholarships worth £2000 each for a single programme of study. The amount will be deducted directly from tuition fees.
Scholarships are awarded by the "International Recruitment Office" Scholarships Panel and all decisions are final.
Students will be notified in late September or early October if they have been successful and there will be a ceremony held early in the academic year to celebrate the awards.

Assistantships: Working Assistantship Type A: Two Years’ Program.
Type A Assistantship will be granted to students enrolling in the
English-taught Master programs. They will have to work part-time 16 hours a
week as an assistant among different departments on campus to enjoy the

2. Dormitory fee is waived, living with 3 or 4 either local or
international students at school dormitory with Type A Assistantship.
3. NT $5,000 per month stipend is offered.

Type B: Assistantship for Two Years’ Program.
Type B Assistantship will be granted to students enrolling in the
English-taught Master programs.
1. Half tuition fee is waived.
2. Half dormitory fee is waived.

Type C: Assistantship for Four Years’ Program.
Type C Assistantship will be granted to students enrolling in the
undergraduate Chinese-taught Bachelor programs. Students will have to work
part-time 5 hours a week as an assistant among different departments on campus
